APRIL STUDENTS OF THE MONTH
Eastern York High School: Andrew Davis and Damien Gilbert.
Dover Area High School: Kyle Horn and Isabella Portelles.
Northern High School: Students who participated in the United Way's Project Youth Impact Conference on March 8 are Bryson Townsend, Alexis Fishel, Maddie Grimm, Maggie Anderson, Elayna Barton, Jenna Bittigner, Isaac Staats, Marcus Jacobs, Jonathan Wirth, Lillian Hockensmith, Cassidy Fooks, Ally Bittigner, Cassie Smith and Destiny Garrett.
Hybrid Learning Institute: York County winners of the Rock Star awards for the outstanding use of educational technology in Pennsylvania classrooms are, Best New Artist, Mary Freed, a math teacher at West York Area High School, for her use of technology in geometry class, and Artist of the Year, Jen Alt, a sixth-grade teacher at South Eastern Intermediate School, for her innovative teaching methods in math and social studies.
PA Liquor Control Board: Winners were announced in the board’s 24th annual Alcohol Awareness Poster Contest. Local winners are Chyanne Shoff, of York County School of Technology, who received $50, and special recognition awardees Amanda Buckheit, of Kennard-Dale High School; Caleb Duncker of Northeastern Senior High School; Tristan Eckenrode and Isabelle Latshaw, both of Shallow Brook Intermediate School; and Luzines Maldonado-Torres, of York County School of Technology.
National Merit Scholarship Corporation: Among the winners of the corporate-sponsored scholarships is Emma E. Gruner of Glen Rock, of Susquehannock High School, a Southwest Airlines Co. Scholarship.
