Tax assistance available

SpiriTrust Lutheran is offering its Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program to York County residents with a 2015 household income of $54,000 or less.

The program assists taxpayers with the filing of their federal, state and local tax returns, and offers free online self-assisted tax preparation for households who earned $62,000 or less in 2015.

Additional qualifications for free tax preparation are no self-employment with more than $25,000 in annual expenses per individual and no clergy claiming a housing allowance.

Eight York County sites offer daytime, evening and limited weekend appointments in York, Red Lion, Hanover and Shrewsbury.

Also, walk-ins are welcome from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays at 907 Roosevelt Avenue, which also offers a drop-off filing service and online self-assisted tax filing with the support of certified preparers.

For an appointment, call 854-2244 or (888) 629-4095.
