The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources will host a First Day Hike, 1 p.m. Jan. 1, at Gifford Pinchot State Park, Conewago Day Use area, off Alpine Road.

The easy to moderate, 1.5-mile walk will be lead by a park naturalist and Friends of Pinchot volunteers.

There is no charge and pre-registration is not required, but highly encouraged.

Participants are asked to dress for the weather and bring a water bottle and snacks as needed. Hot apple cider and snacks will be available after the hike.
