The next big art shows in the area are the The Mount Gretna Outdoor Art Show in Lebanon County, Saturday, August 20, 9-6 p.m. and Sunday, August 21, 9-5 p.m. The following week, York hosts the fabulous Yorkfest Fine Arts Festival
Saturday, August 27 10-5 p.m. and Sunday, August 28 10-4 p.m.
Flemmens will be part of the Mt. Gretna show.
"I use classical realism to express my God-given creativity; I intend for my paintings to convey a sense of quiet serenity. With oils I mix Maroger Medium, a Flemish recipe similar to that used by Old Masters. My family is artsy: an artist aunt, my mother could draw, my father was an amateur photographer. 4 of my 11 siblings work/dabble in art. As a preteen, I attended 2 summers of art programs at York Suburban HS for a fantastic overview of drawing, painting, pottery & jewelry-making. I took art and drafting classes in high school. After HS, I attended York Academy of Arts, studied w/Richard House, & attended Schuler School of Fine Arts in Baltimore. Travels to Ireland, the Med, & Aruba provide exotic source material for my work. I have exhibited my oils in the Mid-Atlantic region, winning many prizes. It’s rewarding to know that hundreds of my paintings are in private and corporate collections nationwide. I currently teach drawing and painting classes in Hershey,
Derosiers began painting only 18 months ago. Lititz was her first show. "I have always been artistic. In 1995 I painted two acrylic pieces with no knowledge of painting or color. After the passing of my oldest son in 1995, I no longer had the desire to paint. In early 2015, I asked the Lord to give me something to comfort me after losing my husband of 11 months. He answered me immediately with this wonderful gift. I had taken some drawing classes at the Hanover Area Arts Guild in 2015, then shortly thereafter began to study
oil painting under Paulette Flemmens of Glen Rock PA. I paint several hours a day, sometimes all day with only occasional breaks. I feel very blessed with this gift the Lord has given."
