Santa welcomes kids of all ages to Christmas Magic

Bil Bowden

For the 32nd year, Christmas Magic at Rocky Ridge County Park is lighting up Christmas spirits-- brighter every year. About 600,000 lights this season.

This year's unseasonably mild weather has helped attendance figures, but probably hurt the hot chocolate concession. Brown's Orchards and Bricker's French Fries are each selling snacks, and probably more soda than hot drinks.  Mild weather will continue for the days leading up to Christmas with high temperatures at least 50 all week. It might hit 70 on Thursday. Rain might dampen things midweek.

The half-mile walk will be open until December 31, except on Christmas Eve and Day. Hours are 5-9 p.m. on Saturday and Sundays, 6-9 p.m. weekdays.

Some of the accolades Magic has seen--

1992 – Best Special Event in Pennsylvania

by the Pennsylvania Recreation & Parks Society

2003 – Voted as one of the Top 13 Holiday Events in the Country by the Wall Street Journal

2004 – One of the Top Ten Holiday Events in Pennsylvania by the Philadelphia Inquirer

2006 – Welcomed the 500,000th visitor

2013 – Recognized by Good Morning (ABC)
