Encore Award winners named

STAFF REPORT

Hanover High School was awarded Best Overall Performance on Sunday afternoon at the 12th annual Encore showcase for its musical version of "Jekyll and Hyde," according to organizer Lyn Bergdoll.

Here is a list of the other event award winners:

Outstanding Female Performers: 1) Bella Portelles, of Dover Area High School; 2) Katie Gallagher, of Spring Grove Area High School; 3) Brooke Weber, of Susquehannock High School; 4) Lauren Bass, of Northeastern High School

Outstanding Male Performers:

Most Creative or Original Performance: Susquehannock High School for "Pippin"

Best Production Number: Kennard-Dale High School for "Mary Poppins"

Best Small Ensemble Performance: Spring Grove Area High School for "Seussical"

Best Dance Performance: Central York High School for "The Little Mermaid"

Judges' Award for Excellence: William Penn High School for "In the Heights"

Four students were also awarded a total of $5,000 in scholarships during the showcase. Allison Rambler, of Central York, Olivia Alsamadi, of Kennard-Dale, and Brooke Weber, of Susquehannock, were each awarded $1,000 scholarships. Rose Arbittier, of Dallastown Area High School, was awarded a $2,000 scholarship.

Dallastown high-schooler wins Distinguished Young Women state competition

Rose previously won $13,000 in scholarships during last year's Distinguished Young Women competition.
