Book lovers, clear some shelf space: The 2018 Book Nook Bonanza runs June 8-10 at the York City Ice Arena, 941 Vander Ave. Thousands of donated books in every genre are waiting for new readers to snatch them up. Times: 4-8 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Admission: $5 adults, $1 ages 13-18, 12 and under free, early shopper wristband $25 for the weekend, including early shopping noon-4 p.m. Friday. Learn some surprising connections with the wizarding world at the York County History Center's Muggle History Family Workshop Series. Muggles can learn about the art of Scherenschnitte (scissor-cutting). stained glass, potter-y, home potions and cooking in a kitchen just like Hagrid's. The York Symphony Orchestra presents "The Magical Music of Harry Potter," 4 p.m. Saturday, June 9, at the Appell Center for the Performing Arts, 50 N. The Mason-Dixon Library opens its summer art exhibition with a reception, 2-4 p.m. Sunday, June 10, at the library, 250 Bailey Drive, Stewartstown. The exhibit features the art of painter Karen Riedy, and music for the reception will be provided by Nicole Seiberling and Zane Ruth of the band Simple Tenants. Springettsbury Township begins its free Sounds of Summer Concert Series this week, with concerts each Sunday and Wednesday through Aug. 5 in the amphitheater at the township park, 1501 Mount Zion Road. Food trucks will be on site with a variety of foods and drinks. On Sunday, June 10, Mitch and the Moodswings bring hits of the 1960s to the park, and on Wednesday the high-energy dance band Metropoliss will take the stage. XPN Welcomes The Robert Cray Band, 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 14, at the Strand Theatre in the Appell Center for the Performing Arts, 50 N. George St. Cray and his band have spent 40 years producing a sound from the American roots in 20 studio albums, and along the way he has won five Grammys and been inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame.
