The roar is back. The 45th annual National Street Rod Association Street Rod Nationals East runs Friday through Sunday, June 1-3, at the York Expo Center. Thousands of vintage cars made in 1988 and earlier will be gleaming and ready for inspection. The event kicks off with a parade at noon Friday on Market Street, from the Expo Center east to Broad Street. Expo Center hours: 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 8 a.m.-noon Sunday. Admission: $17 ages 13 and older, $6 children 6-12, children 5 and under free with adult. Information: www.nsra-usa.com.
Get into the woods with a family campout night, 7 p.m. Friday, June 1, until 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 2, at Nixon County Park. Bring the family, a tent and sleeping bags for a night under the stars on the Nature Center lawn. The night includes a family scavenger hunt, campfire stories and a gourmet s'mores bar, plus bring your own hot dogs and marshmallows for a snack. The morning begins with breakfast and a bird hike. Check out the best of Glen Rock at the fourth annual Glen Rock Arts & Brew Fest, Saturday, June 2, throughout the borough. The free festival starts with a 5K Run or 1 Mile Fun-Run to benefit the ALS Association at 8 a.m. The main festival runs 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. with more than 100 vendors, entertainers and activities all around the town. The Brew portion of the event is noon-4 p.m. in Ruins Park and features beer tastings. Steam Into History will offer excursions from Glen Rock to Larue and back for $10. The Ma & Pa Railroad Heritage Village at Muddy Creek Forks opens for the season 1-5 p.m. on Sunday, June 3, with a Civil War encampment adding to the festivities. The village is open every Sunday through Sept. 2, with the store, mill and grain elevator available to see free with costumed interpreters.
