First Friday York for June

York Dispatch

First Friday in York features deals, meals, activities, entertainment and plenty of fun around the downtown area.

The theme for this month is Dads & Dudes, and the free event runs 5-10 p.m.

A pottery wheel demonstration outside Creative York, 10 N. Beaver St.

Local theater companies OrangeMite Studios and TAFE will be out on Beaver Street with activities and information about their groups.

See "Kubo and the Two Strings," 7 p.m. at the Capitol Theatre, 50 N. George St., a free showing sponsored by OSS Health.

JASPR classic rock band will perform 7-11 p.m. at the Elks Lodge, 223 N. George St., $10 cover, proceeds go to the "All Vets to DC" trip to Arlington National Cemetery in November.

Memory Lane Sweets Candy Store, 11 S. Beaver St., holds its grand opening, with refreshments, a door prize and a raffle for a complete set of Topp's Baseball Cards.

Art openings include Carol Oldenburg at Marketview Arts, 37 W. Philadelphia St.; "HOPE — Hold On Pain Ends" at Creative York West, 118 W. Philadelphia St.;  and the "Great Big Bug Show" at HIVE artspace, 126 E. King St.

Taste Test: A Pop Up Restaurant Series, 101 S. Duke St., auditions King Brat, with a $12 special of loaded brat, loaded tot and drink, plus a la carte items.

Plus beer and wine samples at shops throughout the downtown area.
