March Downtown is the theme for this month's First Friday celebration in downtown York. The monthly event is organized by Downtown Inc and presented by WellSpan Health.

This month's highlights:

Restaurant Week York continues Friday and Saturday, with specials and prix fixe menus at 40 participating restaurants. Information:

The Book Bug will be inside Central Market for March into Literacy month, giving away one free book per child.

Jazz in the City, 5-7 p.m. at the Strand Studio, 50 N. George St., Philadelphia Street entrance. This month's concert features Extremity. Tickets: $5, free with student ID. Information:

The Goodridge Freedom Center and York Friends Meeting present Passages on the Underground Railroad: Quaker Connections, 5:30 p.m. at the center, 123 E. Philadelphia St., followed by an open house at the York Friends Meetinghouse, 135 W. Philadelphia St.

The YWCA Temple Guard will perform at LifePath Christian Ministries/York Economy Store, 283 W. Market St.

Kingdom Movement School of Liturgical Dance performs 6-8 p.m. on Beaver Street and Cherry Lane.

Create a maze out of cardboard and pom poms at Creative York, 10 N. Beaver St., and stay for March Madness Community Storytelling.
