Usually, when the Oscar nominations come out, York movie buffs looks through and say, "Never played here, left after one week, never played, never heard of that one."

This year is different.

After this year's Academy Awards nominations were announced on Tuesday, a glance at the list for Best Picture showed that, yes, that played here, that's still here, that came back.

Of the nine films up for the top prize, eight are still playing on screens either in York County or in Harrisburg. The one exception: "Hell or High Water," which was released in August (and played in York for a short time). It came out on BluRay and DVD Nov. 22.

Want to see the nominees that are still on the big screen? Here's the list:

"Arrival," playing at Cinema Center of Camp Hill.

"Fences," playing at Regal Great Escape Harrisburg Mall Stadium 14.

"Hacksaw Ridge," playing at South York Plaza Cinemas 4.
