Preserved Lands of York County opens Friday.

Preserved Lands of York County: An Amazing Art Exhibit opens Friday at Marketview Arts, 37 W. Philadelphia St. The exhibition brings together works depicting 40 York County lands preserved by the Farm and Natural Lands Trust. Opening reception, 5-9 p.m. Friday, exhibit open to the public 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturdays through Dec. 24. Information: (717) 755-0028.

Hanover High School presents "Elf Jr. the Musical," 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the school. Tickets: $6 students and children, $8 adults, $2 more at the door. There is also a "Brunch with Buddy" at noon Saturday and Sunday that includes a light brunch menu, crafts and a photo with Buddy the Elf for $5, including guaranteed seating in the brunch section at the front of the auditorium. Rudolph is losing a lot of body heat through that red nose, according to a new scientific paper. The suggestion: Leave cookies for him on Christmas Eve, not carrots.

See a couple of holiday classics at the Capitol Theatre, 50 N. George St. At 7 p.m. Friday, "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" will be screened for free as part of First Friday. At 7 p.m. Saturday, watch the 1947 "Miracle on 34th Street," tickets $7. Information: www.mystrandcapitol,org.

The York College Jazz Ensemble will perform jazz renditions of pop music, including "Norwegian Wood," "Girl from Ipanema" and "Purple Rain," 7:30 p.m. Friday at DeMeester Recital Hall in the Evelyn and Earle Wolf Hall. Free.
