Step into the Strand-Capitol Performing Arts Center Studio for Jazz in the City, 5-7 p.m. Friday at the Studio, 50 N. George St., Philadelphia Street entrance. Preserved Lands of York County: An Amazing Art Exhibit opens Friday at Marketview Arts, 37 W. Philadelphia St. The exhibition brings together works depicting 40 York County lands preserved by the Farm and Natural Lands Trust. Opening reception, 5-9 p.m. Friday, exhibit open to the public 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturdays through Dec. 24. Information: (717) 755-0028.
Hanover High School presents "Elf Jr. the Musical," 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the school. Tickets: $6 students and children, $8 adults, $2 more at the door. There is also a "Brunch with Buddy" at noon Saturday and Sunday that includes a light brunch menu, crafts and a photo with Buddy the Elf for $5, including guaranteed seating in the brunch section at the front of the auditorium. The York College Jazz Ensemble will perform jazz renditions of pop music, including "Norwegian Wood," "Girl from Ipanema" and "Purple Rain," 7:30 p.m. Friday at DeMeester Recital Hall in the Evelyn and Earle Wolf Hall. Free.
