What's happening in York this weekend
Check out artwork by local high school students during an Art Gallery Walk, 5-7 p.m. Friday through downtown York. The event, organized by the York College Center for Community Engagement and the Division of Art, offers artwork by nine students at six York City galleries. The artists will compete for cash prizes and a York College scholarship during a follow-up exhibition beginning Nov. 4 at Marketview Arts, 37 W. Arlo Guthrie comes to the Strand-Capitol Performing Arts Center, 50 N. George St., for a performance, 7:30 p.m. Friday. The prolific songwriter, storyteller and activist has become an icon in folk music. Tickets start at $45. Information: www.mystrandcapitol.org.
What's spookier than the woods in fall? YWCA York's Camp Cann-Edi-On will make those woods spookier with Haunted Trails, 5-8 p.m. Saturday at the camp, 870 Sheepbridge Road, York Haven. There will be plenty of thrills for everyone as well as a less scary kiddie trail for the younger guests, trick-or-treating at the cabins, games and food. Share an Intimate Performance by Sarah McLachlan, 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Strand-Capitol Performing Arts Center, 50 N. George St. The singer-songwriter has sold more than 40 million albums worldwide and won three Grammys, founded the Lilith Fair and raised $7 million for local and national charities. York College's Theatre Division kicks off its season with the musical "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown," Wednesday through Oct. 29 at the Perko Playpen theater in the Waldner Performing Arts Center.
