The calendar says July, but it'll be Christmas in downtown York for First Friday.

Downtown Inc will host First Friday in York City, 5-9 p.m. Friday. This month's theme is Christmas in July, and many businesses in the downtown area will have Christmas themes. Some of the highlights:

New Grounds Roasting Co., 284 W. Market St., will have a Christmas music open mic time and gingerbread iced latte/frappe.

At Creative York, 10 N. Beaver St., use ice cubes to paint instead of brushes, then turn your paintings into paper ornaments, 5-8 p.m.

Along with beer tastings at businesses around the area, York CountyHistory Center offers Tavern Tasting at the Colonial Complex, West Market Street and North Pershing Avenue, celebrating the Colonial Court House's 40th Birthday in conjunction with our nation's birthday with live music, celebratory cupcakes and craft beer.

In Royal Square, dogs take center stage for the K9 Christmas in July, featuring a pop-up dog park for dogs 30 pounds and under in the parking lot next to DiDi & Smiling John's, 119 S. Duke St., and at The Parliament Arts Organization, 116 E. King St., check out pups from a local rescue and make your own puppy chow at the bar.
