A variety of events featured in York County and the surrounding area will be available for people to attend to help kick off Father’s Day weekend. Many of the events are geared towards a family-friendly atmosphere and include specialty prices.

Friday through Sunday: Codorus State Park will be hosting its annual Codorus Blast Festival in the park. Features include the Keystone Dock Dogs, who compete to see who can jump farthest off a dock; kayak and pontoon tours of Lake Marburg; butterfly house, medieval village and fire truck displays; and live music and kids shows on stage; Saturday evening ends with fireworks over the lake at 9:30 p.m. Times: 4-11 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m.-11 p.m. Saturday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday. Saturday and Sunday, 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m.: Dads can visit the Harsco Science Center at The Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts for free with an accompanying paid adult or junior (ages 3-17). Saturday through June 26: Enjoy a Day Out with Thomas the Tank Engine (and Percy) at Strasburg Rail Road, 301 Gap Road, Ronks, Lancaster County. A family event for all ages. Activities include rides with Thomas and Percy, the Imagination Station, rides on the Cranky Cars, arts and crafts projects, storytelling and videos. Times and ticket prices vary. Saturday, 9-11 a.m.: Meet PBS Kids Friends including Nature Cat for a free event at DreamWrights Center for Community Arts, 100 Carlisle Ave. Get a picture taken with your favorites and check out games and activities designed to inspire curious kids. RSVP by visiting and clicking on Education.

Sunday, 10:30 a.m.: The Red Brick Bakery & Tea Room, 55 N. Main St., Red Lion, will be hosting a Father’s Day Brunch featuring a variety of breakfast and lunch creations. Tickets are $26.50 per person or $16 for a reduced portion serving. Call 717-332-7427 for reservations.
