Moms take center stage for this month's First Friday celebration, Moms on Main. The event runs 5-9 p.m. Friday throughout downtown York City and is organized by Downtown Inc and sponsored by WellSpan Health.

The first block of North Beaver Street and West King Street between Duke and Queen will be closed to traffic beginning at 4:30 p.m. for the event.

Some of the highlights:

  • WellSpan's executive chef and dietitians will hold a spring cooking demonstration featuring strawberries inside Central Market.
  • Follow the Beaver Street Wine Trail through the shops in the Market District for wine tastings.
  • Jazz in the City begins at 5 p.m. at the Strand Studio, use the Philadelphia Street entrance. Tickets $5, free with student ID.
  • Royal Square gets into the fun with food trucks, photo booths, cotton candy and popcorn, corn hole game board, Teen Miss York County and Drag Queen Bingo.
  • The Beer Ace has beer tastings available at locations throughout the area.
  • End the evening with "Dazed and Confused" at 9 p.m. at the Capitol Theatre, 50 N. George St., or at the Tutoni's Supper Club, with DJ Cashmire and $5 house punch beginning at 9 p.m. at 108 N. George St.
