York Weekend Extras for 1-22: Not everything is canceled
PSU York THON’s Cabaret for a Cure, scheduled for Friday, has been postponed until 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 29 at the Pullo Center on the Penn State York campus. The variety-style talent show will feature acts from opera arias to traditional Nigerian dances. Proceeds will go to Penn State York Benefiting THON, the Penn State dance marathon to raise money for the Four Diamonds Fund to fight pediatric cancer. Tickets: $5, children 5 and under free. See some rare and valuable pieces of history during the 38th Annual Stamp and Post Card Show. The free show runs 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Friday, and it is also scheduled for 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Saturday, but the Saturday hours are up in the air, depending on the weather. The show is at Horticulture Hall at the York Expo Center. The White Rose Philatelic Society of York sponsors the show for stamp, post card and postal history collectors to share and learn more about the hobby. There will be a youth area for junior collectors to ask questions and receive free stamps and handouts as well as a bid board for attendees to place bids on U.S. and foreign stamps.

York Symphony Orchestra conductor and violinist Lawrence Golan is scheduled to perform during the St. John's Concert Series, 4 p.m. Sunday at St. John's Episcopal Church, 140 N. Beaver St. Golan has appeared as a soloist with numerous orchestras, including the Chicago Symphony, and has made several recordings. Free. As of Thursday evening, Greenberg’s Great Train & Toy Show is still on for 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Utz Arena at the York Expo Center. The show features huge operating model train displays, a riding train and an interactive slot car racetrack, as well as trains for sale and exhibitors from across the country. Get your best chocolate recipes out for a cookbook discussion group of chocolate and cocoa recipes, 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Krutz Creek Valley Library Center, 66 Walnut Springs Road, Hallam.
