The York County Astronomical Society offers a free Public Observing Starwatch, 8-10 p.m. Saturday at the observatory at John C. Rudy County Park. View the January skies and learn about stars, planets, nebulae and the moon. You are also invited to bring your own telescope and share your experiences with other amateur astronomers. The Abendmusik Concert Series at First Presbyterian Church of York, 225 E. Market St. will present the 18th Annual Jazz Vespers honoring the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., at 7 p.m. Saturday at the church. Musicians including Chris Bacas, Don Collins, Bob Meashey, Steve Meashey, Kirk Reese, Tim Thompson, Tim Warfield, Jr., and Mack White along with percussionist Jeff Stabley, the Bible Tabernacle Voices for Christ Choir and soloists to pay tribute to King with an evening of gospel, worship and praise music, spirituals and jazz standards. Free, an offering will be taken.

York College professor emeritus Carolyn Mathur will share her photos of Magee Marsh in northwest Ohio, where she and fellow birders saw more than 100 different species, at the York Audubon Society meeting, 7 p.m. Monday. The area is known as a hot spot for spring warblers. The meeting is at Lutheran Memorial Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1907 Hollywood Drive. Free. Information: 755-0740.
