York Weekend Extras for 10/2: Tavern Tastings, bird walk and Kayla Kroh

The York County Department of Parks and Recreation will host a bird walk for beginners, 2:30-4 p.m. Sunday. Naturalist Kelsey Frey will introduce bird watching and how to identify common backyard and forest birds. Some binoculars will be available. Free. Information: 428-1961.

Fishing Creek Salem United Methodist Church, 402 Valley Road, will host its fifth annual dinner theater, 6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, and noon and 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10. The comedy, "Hot Property" by Fred Carmichael, is about a down-on-his-luck land developer who matches wits with a con artist threatening foreclosure. It will be followed by a full-course chicken dinner. The profits will benefit Family Promise and Salem's Community Garden. Tickets: $20, available through Sunday. Reservations: Marsha at 982-1256.

Local singer Kayla Kroh opens for country stars Lonestar, 7 p.m. Sunday at the Eichelberger Performing Arts Center in Hanover. Kayla, 17, is a student at Central York High School and has released an EP, "On Your Own." Tickets: $42. Information: 717-637-7086.
