First Friday York for 10/2

THE YORK DISPATCH

October's First Friday theme is Eat, Drink and Be Scary, and downtown York has plenty of fall fun for all ages. First Friday encompasses the entire downtown area and is organized by Downtown Inc and sponsored by WellSpan Health.

Some highlights:

The Art & Framing Warehouse will host an exhibit and sale of paintings by Valentin Acosta of the Dominican Republic, 6-9 p.m., 147 W. Philadelphia St.; 80 percent of the proceeds from the paintings will benefit a children's charity in the Dominican Republic. First Friday Jazz, 5-7p.m. at the Strand Capitol studio, 50 N. George St., features a quartet: Tim Thompson on trumpet, Kirk Reese on piano, Steve Meashey on bass and Jeff Stabley on drums. $5, free with student ID. Information: www.strandcapitol.org.

Free Hayrides sponsored by Browns Orchard, 5:30-7 p.m., pick-up and drop off at 31 N. Pershing Ave.

Trick or Treating in Royal Square, 6-7 p.m. with a costume parade/contest at 7.

HIVE Artspace opens a new exhibit, "The Spooky Art Show."

OffCenter Grill at Yorktowne Hotel has $10 Gruesome 3: A three-course tasting of Halloween-themed foods, plus best dressed couple wins a romance package.
