York Weekend Extras for 8/28: Murder in the Mansion, YorkFest, Cigar Box Guitar Festival
The York County Bar Association invites wannabe sleuths to join the attorneys for cocktails, dinner and murder during Murder in the Mansion, 6 p.m. Saturday at the B.P.O.E. Lodge 213, 223 N. George St. Attire from the 1920s is suggested but not mandatory. The sixth annual Pennsylvania Cigar Box Guitar Festival runs 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, with 14 bands performing on two stages in downtown York. The music is live and free, and it's also broadcast on WRCT-TV and live-streamed on YouTube. Along with the festival there will be food trucks on West Market Street, a beer garden, workshop at I-ron-ic, swing dance at York Social Dance Studio and more. The 2015 YorkFest Fine Arts Festival runs Friday through Sunday, with a juried art opening reception and literary awards given out at 6 p.m. Friday at the Agricultural & Industrial Museum, 217 W. Princess St. Artists will show their finest works 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday along the banks of the Codorus and around the Colonial Complex, with free family entertainment and activities and more throughout the event.
