York College's Jazz Ensemble will present its spring concert at 7 p.m. Friday in DeMeester Recital Hall, Evelyn and Earle Wolf Hall. The group is composed of 20 students who play a range of jazz styles, including swing, bebop, experimental and fusion. The concert features Miles Davis' "Freddie Freeloader" and Glenn Miller's "Moonlight Serenade" along with "All the Things You Are." Free.

Country artist David Nail will perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Pullo Center. Nail has just finished his I'm a Fire Tour, and Billboard named his "I'm a Fire" album one of the top five country albums of 2014. Tickets: $55-35. Information: pullocenter.yk.psu.edu, (717) 505-8900.

YorkArts will host its 18th annual Art in Residence, 7-10 p.m. Saturday at the BonTon Corporate Center, 2801 E. Market St. The event gives attendees a glimpse into the private collections of more than 20 local art collectors, including the family of Dr. Jack Sanstead. There will also be art for sale from local galleries, live printmaking by Troy Patterson of York College, a raffle of original art by Polly Stetler, and a variety of silent and live auction items. Use a paintbrush to help prevent child abuse at Painting for Prevention, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at Martin Library, 157 E. Market St. The Pennsylvania Family Support Alliance sponsors two murals statewide each year to observe Child Abuse Prevention Month, and this year one of those will be created at Martin Library. The mural will be painted by community members and hung in York to raise awareness and emphasize the importance of getting involved in the community. The event is free and open to the public.

Legendary rock guitarist Jeff Beck will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Strand Theatre. From his beginnings with The Yardbirds in the 1960s to his multiple Grammys and two inductions into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Beck has had one of the most influential careers in rock music. Get ready for a rumble as the York City Derby Dames open their season in an intraleague match at 4 p.m. Saturday at Roll R Way, 940 Vander Ave. This is the first season for the new roller derby team, and a portion of the proceeds will go to the Girl Scouts North Woods Community. The York County Department of Parks and Recreation will host a spring wildflower walk, 2:30-4 p.m. Sunday at Nixon County Park. Naturalist Mary Ronan will lead the hike through the woods to see the fleeting blooms of spring wildflowers and teach how to identify them. Free. Information: 428-1961.

Hear a different side of Lyle Lovett and John Hiatt with An Acoustic Evening, 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Strand Theatre. Lovett has built a reputation as a rich, vibrant performer since his debut album in 1986, and Hiatt is considered one of the most influential songwriters, with his songs covered by artists from Bob Dylan to B.B.
