J DeVere "Lee" Pomroy

J DeVere “Lee” Pomroy, 94, passed away peacefully in his sleep Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at Rest Haven Rehab Center. He was the husband of his beloved wife, the late Barbara (Wrisley) Pomroy. They met at Albright College in Reading, PA, where he kept his promise to his mother not to get married before he graduated; he graduated the morning of June 3, 1951, and got married to the love of his life 3 hours later.

A Celebration of Life Service will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at Yorkshire United Methodist Church, 125 Edgewood Rd, York, PA 17402. Visitation will be held 10:00 – 11:00AM at the church. His pastor, the Reverend David Kominsky, will be officiating.

Born May 1, 1929 in Franklin, PA, he was a son of the late Isaac B. and Hazel (Swyers) Pomroy. He was preceded in death by his brother, Henry S. Pomroy.

He was employed with the Boy Scouts of America for 30 years as a Scout Executive, working in York-Adams counties as well as Baltimore, MD, and Sharon, PA.

A dedicated family man, he especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was a humble man, a great mentor, and had a wonderful sense of humor.

Mr. Pomroy is survived by his son, Joseph Pomroy and his wife, Allison, of Timonium, MD; two daughters, Diane Arey and her husband, Russell, of Ephrata, PA and Carole Pomroy of Hunt Valley, MD; and two grandchildren, Brian Pomroy, of Timonium, MD and Lisa, who lives with her husband Michael Hackerman, in Cockeysville, MD. He was very excited to have a great granddaughter on the way.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Baltimore Area Council, Boy Scouts of America, 701 Wyman Park Drive, Baltimore, MD 21211, or your local Boy Scout Council.
