R. Kenneth Kephart, Jr., age 77, of Spring Grove, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2023 at his home. He was the loving husband of Barbara A. (Harrison) Kephart; together they shared 55 years of marriage. Ken was born in Boca Raton, FL on March 29, 1945 and was the son of the late R. Kenneth Kephart, Sr. and Caroline M. (Newcomer) Kephart. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and worked as a broadcaster for WORK radio, the York Daily Record, and the communications department for the Pennsylvania Senate. In his youth, Ken was a member of the Boy Scouts. Ken also enjoyed going on fishing trips, spending time outdoors, boating, and hunting. Ken’s enjoyment of sports led him to work as a football official for a number of years. Ken and Barbara logged countless hours and miles traveling to watch their sons play football, sports for their nephew and nieces and later, their grandsons. He was also a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stoverstown. In addition to his loving wife Barbara, Ken is survived by his son Brian Kephart and wife Jennifer Hunara; his grandchildren Bryce, Gio, Parker, Leo, and Anthony; and his sister Pat Kephart. He is also survived by his brother-in-law William Harrison and wife Diane; and his nieces and nephew Ryan Harrison, Bethany Weakland, and Ashlee Johnson. Ken was preceded in death by his son Marc Kephart who passed away in 2019. A Memorial Service in celebration of Ken’s life will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at 1:00PM at Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., of Spring Grove, 175 N. Main St., Spring Grove, PA 17362 with Rev. Dr. Bradley H. Dayett officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive relatives and friends from 12:00PM – 1:00PM on Saturday at the funeral home.
