Joseph C. Crumbling, 91, entered into rest Thursday March 9, 2023 at Misericordia Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was the husband of the late Helen L. “Dolly” (Pfeiffer) Crumbling who entered into rest November 3, 2020. A visitation will be 10-11 AM Saturday March 25 at St. Joseph Church (Chapel) 2935 Kingston Rd. York PA 17402. The Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 AM with Fr. Stephen Fernandes, Pastor as celebrant. Burial will be at Holy Saviour Cemetery at a later date. The John W Keffer Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc., East York, is assisting with arrangements. Joe was born March 10, 1931 in York, a son of the late Martin L. and Anastasia (Helfrich) Crumbling. He was a 1950 graduate of York Catholic High School. At York Catholic he played in both football and basketball and was on the basketball team that won its first state championship in 1948. After graduation he had studies in architecture with ICS and Penn State University. He became a registered architect in 1963 and was registered in 12 states. He was a member of The American Institute of Architects and the Society of American Military Architects. He retired in 1993 as Vice President with Buchart-Horn Basco following 41 years of service. He had years of experience in various phases of architecture including parks and recreational facilities, municipal office and service facilities, educational buildings, industrial plants and offices, maintenance facilities and commercial buildings. He was a member of St. Joseph Church, a past Grand Knight of Columbus 1530, St. Joseph Church of Knights Council and Viking AA. Joseph is survived by his children Lynn M. Lauer, Mitchell D. Crumbling & wife Stephanie. He was preceded in death by his son Bryan D. Crumbling and son in law Jeff. He is survived by grandchildren Shawn Lauer & wife Angie, Lauren Leicht & husband Kory, Bennett Crumbling & wife Gabi, Leah Crumbling, Lynn Crumbling & wife Jen and Krista Crumbling. He was preceded in death by his grandson Steven A. Crumbling. Also surviving are great grandchildren Dylan, Cecilia, Evan, Camryn, Birdie, Olive, Imogen, Griffin, Kyleigh and Kerry III. He is survived by his sister Jean. He was preceded in death by his brother Philip and his sisters Mary, Dorothy and Elizabeth. Memorial contributions can be made to a charity of your choice.
