Kathleen I (Miller) Kowalchuk, 88, of Carlisle (formerly of York) passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, September 20, 2022. Funeral services will be held Monday, September 26, 2022 at Etzweiler Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, 1111 East Market Street, York. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 am with a service of Remembrance at 11 am. Pastor Troy Miller of Cityview Church, York, will be officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery. Kathleen was born in Northampton to Albert H. and Mildred (Atherholt) Miller on December 13, 1933, she was the step daughter of Elmer G. Lessig. She graduated from Northampton High School and worked as a teller at Cement National Bank. She married Phillip Kowalchuk on August 28, 1954 and moved to York. She worked as a lunch lady and library aide while her children were in school and then as office manager for the American Heart Association in York. She was a very social person, involved in her Secretary’s Association, Homemakers’ Club, many committees, several auxiliaries and, with her husband Phil, played bridge with their card club and danced with the White Rose Polka Club. She was a long-time member of Bethany UCC, and later Faith UCC of York. Kathy was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Phillip, and her granddaughter, Stephanie. She is survived by her children: Tanya Miller and her husband Charles of Carlisle; Beth Reifsnyder and her husband Jeffrey of Schwenksville; and Phillip A Kowalchuk and his wife Linda of Glenmoore. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren: Bradley, Bryan, Meredith, Megan and Noah; and 6 great-grandchildren: Charlotte, Cheyenne, Ella, Gideon, Edith and Oliver. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to The Herbert L Rice Memorial Fund, c/o Faith UCC, York, PA and/or Homeland At Home Hospice, Harrisburg, PA.
