Margaret L. Fegely

York - Margaret Louise Fegely, 97, passed away Friday, January 14, 2022 at home. She was the wife of the late Earl D. Fegely, Sr.

Born in York on May 6, 1924, Margaret was the daughter of the late Robert S. Wire and Katherine Hoover. Maggie was a proud graduate of the PA Soldiers' Orphans School (later known as Scotland School for Veterans' Children) in 1943. While at Scotland, Maggie was active in chorus, choir, basketball and was on the undefeated girl's field hockey team two years in a row. She was known as a "scrappy wing". She also participated in Sunday School Class and Christian Endeavor. She had instruction in Tailoring, First Aid, Red Cross and Home Economics. Her senior year she was selected Beaty Culture as her vocation. This served her well after graduation. Over the years, Maggie attended events at Scotland regularly even after Scotland School was closed in 2009. Maggie was beloved by her Scotland brothers and sisters, and she loved them just as much. Maggie will be sadly missed by all her Scotland family.

The celebration of life service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, January 22, 2022 at the John W. Keffer Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc,2114 West Market St, York. Viewing will be one hour prior to service. Burial will be with her husband in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Fegely is survived by her son, Willard G. Fegely of York and stepson Gene Fegely; 14 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 3 sons, Robert E. Fegely, Sr., Dwight E. Fegely, David K. Fegely and stepson Earl D. Fegely, Jr.
