Chris Cody tied one York Revolution record while setting another, combining with three relievers to shut out the Camden Riversharks 5-0 on Thursday night at Campbell's Field in the series finale.
The Revs avoided a sweep with the win, and will return home to open the final home series of the 2013 season at Sovereign Bank Stadium on Friday night, when they host the Bridgeport Bluefish in the first of a four-game set beginning at 6:30 p.m.
The shutout win was the fifth of the season for the Revs and the fourth started by Cody (14-8), who tied York's single-season wins record with the victory, while setting a new club record for most strikeouts in a season.
Cody allowed just three hits and three walks in 62/3 innings, striking out seven on the night. He wasted little time in taking care of the strikeout record. After beginning the first inning with a pair of groundouts, Cody struck out Dionys Cesar to end the inning, tying the second-most strikeouts in a single season in Revs history with 129 total.
Cody then began the second inning by striking out Delwyn Young to tie the record, and Valentino Pascucci to set a new record with 131 punch outs, eclipsing Aaron Rakers' previous club record from the 2008 season. Cody finished the night increasing his season strikeout total to a league-leading 135 on the year.
Ruddy Yan's two-run doubles and Salvador Paniagua's RBI double staked York to a 3-0 lead in the fifth. Kody Kirkland also doubled in that inning.
Chad Tracy scored on a wild pitch in the sixth and Matt Spencer nailed a solo homer to right leading off the ninth.
Cody's 14 wins matches the record established by teammate Corey Thurman last season. Cody is scheduled to make two more starts this season, both in Sugar Land on the team's final road trip.
