Back when voting began on June 13 for the 2012 Atlantic League All-Star Game, Brandon Haveman wasn't even a listed choice among outfielders.

Rather, if fans wanted to go online and vote for Haveman, they would have to use the "write-in" feature and type in his name, team and position before hitting the submit button.

So, it's somewhat surprising that the speedy York Revolution outfielder will make his first All-Star appearance as one of six Revs players who have been selected for the game, which is scheduled to be played on Wednesday at Campbell's Field in Camden.

In addition to Haveman, starting pitcher Corey Thurman, reliever Adam Thomas, infielders Andres Perez and Ramon Castro and outfielder Michael Hernandez were the York players selected for the game.

York is tied for the third-most players selected to the All-Star Game, behind Lancaster's eight and Long Island's seven. Lancaster won the Freedom Division first-half title, while Long Island took the Liberty Division first-half crown.

Revs' skipper Andy Etchebarren will manage the Freedom Division All-Star Team for the second consecutive season after guiding the Revs to their second straight Atlantic League championship last year, when he was named 2011 Atlantic League Manager of the Year.

He will be joined by York pitching coach Mark Mason, third-base coach Enohel Polanco and player-coach Liu Rodriguez on his All-Star coaching staff.

"I'm very happy for all six of our players that have been selected," Etchebarren said in a news release. "They've all had terrific first halves, and are very deserving to be there."

The selection of position players was based upon online voting from league fans, plus polling of Atlantic League managers, officials and media. Two pitchers are then selected from each team by Atlantic League managers.

Haveman: The 5-foot, 9-inch Haveman arrived in York on May 23, just a day after he was released by Atlantic League Freedom Division rival Lancaster, where he batted just .182 in 10 games.

Coming to York to fill in for an injured Scott Grimes at the time, the 26-year-old Haveman ended up earning a starting gig by being a sparkplug in the Revs' offense at the top the lineup. Since his first action in a Revs' uniform on May 24, Haveman has compiled a team-best batting average of .321 in 43 games to go along with 28 runs, 10 doubles, two triples, 22 RBIs and eight stolen bases. Since his arrival, the Revs have gone from eighth in the league in runs per game to second. York has compiled a 27-16 record during that stretch.

Pitchers: Thurman will make his third All-Star appearance for York.

In his final start of the first half on Wednesday, Thurman broke his own Revs record with his eighth consecutive win, tying for the league lead in victories with an 8-1 overall record. It was his 46th win in a Revs' uniform, moving into sole possession of third place all-time in Atlantic League wins. The Revs are 12-2 in his 14 starts. Thurman has a 4.64 ERA.

Thomas makes his second consecutive All-Star appearance. The right-hander is 4-2 out of the bullpen with three saves and a 3.51 ERA. He has struck out 22 while walking just nine in 331/3 innings and has appeared in 33 contests, tied for the most in the league.

Infielders: Castro is appearing in his third Atlantic League All-Star Game, and is leading the league with 50 RBIs, which is a Revs' first-half record.

The third baseman has driven in 36 runs in his last 37 games, and is batting .298 overall for the season, including a .331 clip in 56 games since May 10. Castro has also hit 11 home runs and 15 doubles.

Perez ranks among the Atlantic League leaders in batting (.331), homers (11), runs (43), hits (82), doubles (19) and extra-base hits (32).

Hernandez: Hernandez makes his third All-Star appearance in four years in the Atlantic League.

Last season, Hernandez took home the Stephen R. Shilling Award as the game's Most Valuable Player when the contest was held at York's Sovereign Bank Stadium. He was playing for Somerset at the time. This season, Hernandez is batting .287 with 10 home runs, 12 doubles and 39 RBIs in his first year with the Revs.
