The surging York Revolution won a game but lost ground in the Atlantic League Freedom Division first-half race on Thursday evening.

The Revs claimed a lopsided win over the Bridgeport Bluefish, 9-2, at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard, taking three of four in the series. The Revs have won six of their last eight games and will continue their road trip at Long Island on Friday evening at 7:05.

Unfortunately for York, however, first-place Lancaster (19-15) swept a doubleheader from Somerset on Thursday and increased its lead over last-place York (14-18) to four games.

While the offense put up big numbers for a fourth-straight game, Revs' starter Chris Cody prevented the Bluefish from doing the same, limiting Bridgeport to one run in his six innings to earn the win.

Cody (2-5) allowed only one hit, a solo homer to left by Brock Peterson in the second inning. It marked the third-straight start in which he's allowed just one run, totaling three runs over 192/3 innings during that stretch (1.37 ERA).

Down 1-0 in the third, Brandon Haveman played the role of sparkplug, drawing a two-out walk from Bridgeport starter Raymar Diaz. Haveman stole second on the very next pitch, and advanced to third on catcher Angel Flores' throwing error. That set the stage for Liu Rodriguez, who roped an RBI double into the right-field corner, tying the score. Ramon Castro followed with an RBI double to deep left, giving the Revs a 2-1 lead.

York exploded for five runs in the fifth, and again it was Haveman igniting the rally with a leadoff triple to right. Rodriguez drove him in with a single through the drawn-in infield, and Castro followed with a two-run homer to left. After a one-out single by Chris Nowak, Bobby Kielty crushed a two-run homer onto the railroad tracks beyond the right-field fence, boosting York's lead to 7-1.

The Revs would add two more in the ninth when Kielty picked up his third RBI of the night on a ground out, plating Andres Perez, who had led off with a double. Nowak also crossed home on a passed ball.

York right-handers Stephen Penney and Adam Thomas each fired scoreless frames in relief of Cody. Bridgeport plated one run in the ninth, but R.J. Rodriguez finished it off. Four York pitchers combined on a four-hitter, the fewest hits allowed in a game by the Revs this season.
