Giving up double-digit runs and hits normally isn't a good thing.

The York Revolution did both in its 15-10 loss Thursday afternoon to the Camden Riversharks at Sovereign Bank Stadium.

Still, Revs' manager Andy Etchebarren wasn't completely disappointed. For a change, his offense came to life, surpassing six hits in a game for the first time this season with a total of 11 on Thursday. The Revs also put up double-digit runs for the first time this year.

"We finally saw some offense. That's kind of nice," Etchebarren said.

While the Revs' pitching had been average to solid coming into Thursday, it chose the wrong time to have an off day, especially given that the Revs' bats finally warmed up.

"The negative is, again, we had way too many three-ball counts. We're getting in hitters' counts and then we can't get our breaking stuff over, so we gotta throw fastballs," Etchebarren said.

Revs' left-hander Chris Cody (0-2) went just 31/3 innings in his second start of the year. He gave up nine runs on 10 hits while walking three and striking out three on 66 pitches. After reliever Ian Thomas tossed 12/3 innings of scoreless ball, relievers Stephen Penney, Santo Luis and James Houser combined to surrender six runs in the final four innings.

Offense: The Revs (2-5) gave the 4,092 fans something to cheer about in the fourth inning when they put up their first hits and runs on the board when Scott Grimes and Stephen Douglas led off with back-to-back home runs. Outfielder Michael Hernandez later tacked on a run with an RBI single. Grimes hit his second solo homer of the game in the fifth. And Revs' second baseman Andres Perez pulled York to within 10-8 with a grand slam homer to left-center in the sixth.

But Camden (4-3) extended the lead back to five with three runs in the seventh. The teams traded a run in each of the eighth and ninth innings.

With his two homers, Grimes became the all-time leader in home runs hit by a Revs' player at Sovereign Bank Stadium (18). He moved into a second-place tie with former Rev Matt Dryer for most homers by a Revolution player (35). The all-time leader is Jason Aspito with 42.

Roster moves: York signed right-hander Shawn Hill on Thursday.

Hill ended the 2010 season as a starter with the Toronto Blue Jays. The then-Florida Marlins released him before the 2011 season because of medical issues and he went on to pitch for Team Canada in the 2011 Pan-Am Games.

Hill's addition gives York 26 players on the roster. Atlantic League teams can hold 27 players through the end of May. When asked about his roster after the game, Etchebarren told reporters: "I'll have a meeting with my coaches here after you guys leave, and I'll let you know (Friday)."

Next game: York will next host the first of a three-game series on Friday against the Bridgeport Bluefish.

Right-hander Omar Javier (0-0, 6.75 ERA) will get the start for York. He will be opposed by righty Matt Pike (0-1, 2.25 ERA). First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
