Two York College athletes have been honored by the Capital Athletic Conference.
Junior pitcher Josh Miller was named the CAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week. In his only outing of the week, he pitched a two-hit shutout in the Spartans' 8-0 win over Wesley. Miller walked two and struck out one. He improved to 2-1 for the year. Overall, the left-hander owns a 3.43 ERA and one save in addition to his two wins. He has held opponents to a .218 batting average in 21 innings.
Junior goalkeeper Ashley Smith was named the CAC Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week. She led the Spartans, who are ranked No. 10 in NCAA Division III, to wins over Dickinson and St. Mary's. She allowed seven goals in the two games while recording 15 saves for a 68.2 save percentage. She also had four ground balls, including three against Dickinson. For the season, Smith is 6-0 with a 5.80 goals-against average and a 56.4 percent save percentage. She has registered 44 saves in 352 minutes.
