Two York College track athletes have been honored by the Capital Athletic Conference with weekly awards for their efforts at the Terrapin Open at Maryland on Saturday.
Sophomore runner Sean Welsh was named the CAC Men's Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week. Welsh began his day by breaking the school record in the 60-meter dash in 7.10 seconds, breaking the previous record of 7.14. The record-breaking time earned Welsh a sixth-place finish in the meet loaded with NCAA Division I athletes. Welsh also had a strong showing in the 200-meter dash, placing 14th with a time of :23.59.
York's Caroline DeLany was named the CAC Women's Indoor Track and Field Co-Athlete of the Week. In the mile run, DeLany was the third Division III finisher with a time of 5:34.86. That placed her 15th overall. DeLany then recorded a time of 11:24.24 in the 3,000-meter run. That placed DeLany third among Division III runners and 21st overall.
