York College will have home-field advantage when it tries to advance to the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Final Four this weekend.
The Spartans learned Monday that they will play host to the sectional round of the NCAA tournament on Saturday and Sunday.
It will mark the third time in school history that York will host the sectional round.
The other three teams at the York sectional will be Messiah College, the University of Scranton and Stevens Institute.
The Spartans face the top-ranked Messiah Falcons on Saturday in the opening game. The Falcons, who are 20-0-1, earned their way to the sectional with a 3-0 win over Emory on Sunday after getting one of the two first-round byes. The two squads played earlier in the year with the Falcons picking up a 1-0 double-overtime win over the Spartans in Grantham.
Stevens enters the sectional 18-2-1 after winning a pair of games last weekend to advance. The Ducks knocked off Methodist 2-0 and Haverford 3-0 to move on to face Scranton. The Royals enter the weekend at 16-2-2. Scranton earned its way to the sectional with a 6-0 win over Elms and then notched a 2-1 overtime win over Colorado College.
The first game on Saturday will kick off at 11 a.m. on Saturday, followed by the 1:30 pm contest. The determination which games will be played in which order will be made later Monday. Saturday's winners will square off at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, with a trip to the NCAA Division III Final Four on the line.
York enters the tournament at 18-2-3.
