Lunchtime concerts

The Box Lunch Revue concert series returns to Cherry Lane for the summer on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. May 2 through Aug. 29. 'Beauty' retold

The fairy tale "Beauty and the Beast" opens Friday, May 3, at DreamWrights Youth and Family Theatre, 100 Carlisle Ave., York. Fairie magic

The 22nd annual May Day Fairie Festival runs from noon to 6 p.m. Friday, May 3, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, May 4-5, at Spoutwood Farm, 4255 Pierceville Road near Glen Rock. The celebration of spring features maypole dancing, live music, arts and crafts, drum circles, storytelling and more. Admission: $15 for adults, $5 for ages 3-12, free for ages 2 and under. Civil War

The annual Butternut & Blue event showcases Civil War re-enactments with black powder firing, live music, a screening of a 1913 movie featuring actors who were in the war and more. Free comics

The national Free Comic Book Day will be celebrated at three local shops all day Saturday, May 4. Drop by Comic Store West, 2111 Industrial Highway, Springettsbury Township; Comix Connection, West Manchester Mall; and Planet X Comics, Queensgate Shopping Center, York Township, for free comics, movies, games, costumed characters and more. Clint Black

Military justice

"A Few Good Men," the compelling drama of Marines on trial for hazing, takes the stage at York Little Theatre, 27 S. Belmont St., Spring Garden Township, for two weekends. Drink and dine

The second annual Sweetest Pint Pub Tour mixes craft beer and chocolate dishes in a tour of six brew pubs in downtown York City from 3 to 6 p.m. May 11. Sweet creatures

The Pennsylvania Alpaca Owners and Breeders Association's annual showcase features hundreds of alpacas in a free event geared toward families. The fun starts at 8:30 a.m. May 11 and 12 in the Toyota Arena at the York Expo Center, 334 Carlisle Ave. Events include a fleece-to-shawl demonstration, judging in the ring, seminars, alpaca fiber arts and crafts, a silent auction and more. Street fair

York City's traditional Mother's Day festival, the 38th annual Olde York Street Fair, runs from 12:30 to 6 p.m. May 12 in the area around Continental Square. The free fair boasts a special block of activities for children, a variety of artisans and crafters, food and three stages of live performances. Home tour

Hit the hottest spots in York City with the 14th annual York Young Professionals Home Tour from 5 to 8 p.m. May 17 and an after-party from 8 to 10 p.m. The tour will visit the Newton Square neighborhood, Philadelphia Street and the Lofts on North George Street. The reception at the Susan P. Byrnes Health Education Center will feature live music, catered food and locally brewed ales from Liquid Hero Brewery. Tickets: $10 in advance, $15 on the spot. Neil Sedaka

Singer, songwriter and heartthrob Neil Sedaka, who earned his fame with hits like "Calendar Girl" and "Breaking Up Is Hard To Do," will perform in a SuperPops concert with the York Symphony Orchestra at 8 p.m. May 17 at the Strand-Capitol Performing Arts Center, 50 N. Sip all day

The Taste of Pennsylvania Wine and Music Festival features wines from nearly 20 wineries, dozens of vendors and live music from 1 to 6 p.m. May 18 and 19 at the York Fairgrounds, 334 Carlisle Ave. A separate beer garden event runs from 6 to 9 p.m. May 18. Admission is free. Tickets are $18 per day for wine sampling, $20 for beer sampling and $10 for designated drivers (includes water, soda and souvenir T-shirt). CapLive concert

Chili cookoff
