YorkArts knows there's a passion for art in York City — and on Friday night, it's time to light it up.

The Ignite the Light fundraising gala illuminates creativity with a special showcase of sculptures and other events from 7 to 11 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19, outside the gallery at 10 N. Beaver St.

Artists created light-driven sculptures specifically for the show. Meet two of the participating artists in the video at the top of this page.

Attendees will be able to participate, too, by taking a turn at the paint-throwing booth on a communal canvas. Costumes focusing on the Ignite the Light theme are encouraged, and a top prize will be awarded.

The arts party will feature music for dancing by Aortic Valve, a silent auction and raffle, and food and beverages by local eateries.

Tickets are $40; proceeds benefit arts programs for York City and York County youth.
