York Symphony Orchestra conductor Robert Hart Baker will be honored Friday at the eighth annual Swing Into Literacy gala, a collaboration of the York Symphony Orchestra Association and York County Literacy Council.

Proceeds from the evening benefit both organizations. The event is sponsored by Mr. and Mrs. Louis J. Appell.

The 2012 Swing Into Literacy gala will feature a dinner, with performances by soloist Jim Scofield and the York Symphony Orchestra's Swing Band conducted by Baker, along with an extensive silent auction and a live auction for platinum packages.
