The advisory board of the York County Honors Choirs recently bid farewell to our beloved board member, Matt Belanger. Matt recently resigned his position at WGAL-TV after accepting a position at WTAE-TV in Pittsburgh.
Matt was a student at Central High School when our very first Honors Choir was formed 15 years ago. He was a member of that first choir. He then went on to graduate from college and eventually found his way back to York and WGAL-TV.
Matt's interest in the Honors Choirs was phenomenal, and he became a member of the advisory board, chair of the media committee, attracted press coverage and was our emcee at so many of our concerts.
It is with mixed emotions that we say farewell. We are all so pleased that he is moving forward with his career, but we hate to see him leave us.
Matt represented what a nonprofit organization dreams of -- a young person who has been touched by the organization and who then gives his time and talent to enhance that organization when it becomes possible. Matt did just that and we are grateful for his years on our board.
We wish Matt every success and thank him for helping make Honors Choirs such a happy place. This former Honors Choirs singer won't forget "why we sing."
