Multiple York County school districts have announced delays Wednesday morning due to icy road conditions.

York City, South Eastern, South Western, Dallastown, Northern York, Red Lion, West Shore, Central York, West York, Dover, York Suburban, Southern and Eastern York school districts are all operating on two-hour delays, according to their websites.

Two-hour delays are also in effect for Shrewsbury Christian Academy, York Country Day School and York County School of Technology. York Catholic High School has issued a closure, according to its website.

A winter weather advisory had been extended for York County, according to the National Weather Service.

The advisory, which had been set to expire at midnight, remained in effect until 4 a.m. Wednesday, the NWS said. Temperatures are expected to rise above freezing around 9-10 a.m., ending the threat of icy spots on the road.

About a tenth of an inch of ice accumulation was expected in York County, and icy spots could remain on roads until dawn, the NWS said.

Motorists are encouraged to adjust speeds based on driving conditions and to take it slow in ice and snow.

At least five active accidents had been reported in York County as of 7:45 a.m. Wednesday, according to York County 911.

State Department of Transportation traffic maps show slow-moving traffic on Interstate 83 north from Exit 83 onto Newberrytown through Exit 36 onto Fishing Creek.
