Four York College baseball players have earned 2014 d3baseball.com All-South Region honors.
Seniors Colbe Herr and Brad Wenzel joined junior Derek Pitzer on the second team. Senior Andrew Hershey earned a spot on the third team. Pitzer is a Dallastown High School graduate.
York had four of the 10 players that represented the Capital Athletic Conference on the three squads.
Herr, a catcher, hit .376 with a conference-leading 55 RBIs, 42 runs scored, 16 doubles and 16 home runs. He boasted a .567 slugging percentage and a .413 on-base percentage. Defensively, Herr had a .983 fielding percentage and threw out 14 runners attempting to steal.
Wenzel, a first baseman, hit .417 with 44 runs scored, 48 RBIs, 15 doubles, a triple and a team-high seven homers. Wenzel had a .634 slugging percentage and a .462 on-base percentage. Wenzel also had a .997 fielding percentage, with just one error in 315 fielding attempts this season.
Pitzer, a designated hitter, hit .380 with 36 RBIs, 31 runs scored, a team-best 21 doubles, one triple and four home runs. He notched a slugging percentage of .595 and an on-base percentage of .429.
Hershey hit .358 with 57 runs scored, 26 RBIs, nine doubles, two triples and four home runs. He had 13 stolen bases, a slugging percentage of .500 and an on-base percentage of .432. He was hit by a team-high 18 pitches.
