The Penn State York men's basketball team will enter the Penn State University Athletic Conference playoffs as the No. 1 seed.
The local Lions won at Penn State Schuylkill on Monday night, 87-68, to improve to 22-2 overall and 13-1 in the PSUAC South.
Red Lion Christian High School graduate Logan Steckel led PSY with 22 points, while Dallastown grad Judd Gemmill added 14 points. PSY will host a PSUAC semifinal game at 5 p.m. Saturday against an opponent to be determined. A win there will put the local Lions into the title game at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Bryce Jordan Center on PSU's main campus. The women's title game will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday, also at the Jordan Center.
The PSY women also downed Schuylkill on Monday, 64-50, and will enter the PSUAC playoffs as the No. 5 seed. They will travel to Penn State Brandywine at 7 p.m. Wednesday for a first-round PSUAC playoff game. The PSY women are 16-7 overall and 10-5 in the PSUAC South.
Christian School of York grad Hannah York finished with 32 points and seven rebounds for PSY on Monday, including 25 in the second half. York Suburban grad Brittany Kint added 14 points for PSY, while Delone grad Courtney Riggs chipped in six points and a team-high 10 rebounds.
