The record-breaking Dallastown High School swimming teams continued their stellar starts to the 2013-2014 season.
The Wildcats cruised to pair of non-league triumphs at Northeastern on Tuesday. The Wildcat boys won, 148-34, while the Wildcat girls triumphed, 125-61. The Dallastown boys improved to 6-0-0, while the Dallastown girls stand at 5-1-0.
In the boys' meet, the Wildcats broke all three pool records in the three relays. In the 200 medley relay, Noah Brockway, Mason Tate, Spencer Hill and Corey Stauffer finished in 1 minute, 40.54 seconds, breaking the old record of 1:41:31. In the 200 freestyle relay, Stauffer, Brockway, Trevor Hine and Tate finished in 1:29:78, breaking the old mark of 1:30:31. In the 400 free relay, Hine, Stauffer, Hill and Brockway finished in 3:15:66, breaking the old record of 3:17:18. Individually for the Wildcats, D.J. Boyer won the 200 free and 500 free. Hine also broke a pool record in the 200 individual medley with a time of 1:56:11, breaking the old record of 1:56:79. All three pool relay records were held previously by Dallastown.
In the girls' meet, Kacey Oberlander led the Wildcats by breaking a pool record in the 100 backstroke with a time of :57.11, breaking the old record of 59.07. She also took first place in the 200 IM. Teammate Alyssa Bixler ended up taking second in the 50 free, but broke a pool record with a time of :24.62. For the Bobcats, Niki Price broke a pool and school record in the 50 free with a time of :24:43, breaking the old time of :24.76 (pool) and :25.12 (school). Price also won the 200 free and was a member of the 400 free relay team, along with Savannah Damon, Devin Sevret and Ona Sutton, that broke a school record at 3:52.34, breaking the old record of 3:53.13.
OTHER BOYS' SWIMMING
Spring Grove 86, West York 84: At Graham Aquatic Center, the Rockets trailed 80-76 entering the final event (the 400 free relay), but the visitors rallied to capture first and third in the event to secure the victory. The Rockets' first-place team in the 400 free relay consisted of Taylor Myers, Colton Boyles, Nolan Kling and Isaac Smith. Individually for the visitors, Justin Culp won the 100 breast and 200 IM. For the Bulldogs, David Foery won the 200 free and 100 free.
OTHER GIRLS' SWIMMING
Spring Grove 97, West York 73: At Graham Aquatic Center, the Rockets used a team effort to capture the victory by taking 26 points between the three relay events. For the Bulldogs, Courtney Harnish took first in the 200 IM with a new school record of 2:05.20 and in the 100 fly with a new school and York-Adams record of :55.25. Teammate Taylor Hoover won the 200 free and 100 free.
