The Penn State York men's basketball team remained undefeated Monday night with a Penn State University Athletic Conference win over visiting Penn State Brandywine, 87-72.
The local Lions were powered by 26 points from forward Josh Jamison along with double-figure scoring by guards Judd Gemmill (18 points) and Tyler Martin (18 points) and center Ben Todd (11 points), who also collected 11 rebounds.
York shot 51.6 percent from the field (32-of-62) while holding Brandywine to 45.8 percent shooting (27-of-59), including 2-of-16 from 3-point range (12.5 percent).
York currently sits in first place atop the PSUAC South Division with a 7-0 conference record. Monday's win sets up York's next two showdowns Thursday and Saturday against two of the best teams in the PSUAC behind the local Lions.
Penn State Wilkes-Barre first pays a visit to York on Thursday at 8 p.m. Wilkes-Barre (8-6 overall) is currently in first place in the PSUAC North Division with a 5-0 mark in conference competition.
Then York will host Penn State Mont Alto (12-1, 6-0) on Saturday at 3 p.m. in the first of two meetings between the clubs this season.
Women: In a match-up of the top-two teams in the PSUAC South Division, Penn State Brandywine came out on top Monday night at Penn State York, 69-64. With the loss, York (7-4 overall, 4-2 conference) dropped into a two-way tie with Brandywine (7-5, 4-2) for first in the PSUAC South. The two teams have the second-best records in the conference behind West Division-leader Penn State Fayette (7-4, 5-0).
The local Lions were led Monday night by Christian School of York grad Hannah York (21 points) and Delone Catholic grad Courtney Riggs (20 points).
York next hosts Penn State Wilkes-Barre (5-8, 3-2) at 6 p.m. Thursday.
