York High graduate Malachai Leonard has been named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference West Division Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week.
The 6-foot, 8-inch Leonard is a senior forward at Seton Hill University.
Leonard led the Griffins to a 3-0 week, while posting two double-doubles. He notched 27 points and 18 rebounds in an 83-74 win over Millersville, while posting 17 points and 11 rebounds in an 82-80 win at Shippensburg. Against Cheyney, Leonard contributed 23 points. He averaged 22.3 points per game while shooting 65 percent from the floor. He recorded 35 total rebounds in the three PSAC crossover games for an average of 11.7 boards per outing.
It's the second time this season Leonard has earned the award. He was also honored on Dec. 2.
The Griffins are 8-3 overall. Leonard has posted six double-doubles on the season. He leads the Griffins, averaging 17.8 points and 10.1 rebounds per game.
