The 2013 Gatorade Pennsylvania Football Player of the Year is from nearby Cedar Cliff High School.

Quarterback Andrew Ford recently was picked for the award, which recognizes not only athletic excellence, but also academic achievement and character.

The 6-foot, 3-inch, 180-pound senior threw for 2,776 yards and 35 touchdowns this past season, completing 161 of 238 passes (67.6 percent). He helped the Colts to a 9-2 record.

Ford also maintains a 3.80 grade-point average. He has verbally committed to play football next season at Virginia Tech.

Ford is now eligible to win the Gatorade National Player of the Year Award.
