The York College golf squad captured the championship at the 19-team Bent Creek Invitational on Monday at Bent Creek Country Club in Lancaster.
In addition to the team championship, senior Kevin Long earned the individual medalist honors. Long tied with teammate Dave Boslough and Jared Brown from Franklin & Marshall for first and earned the title on match of cards. The trio each shot a 1-under-par 70. The individual championship for Long is his second of this season and the sixth of his career.
The Spartans shot a team total of 302, winning the tournament by four strokes over Messiah. Franklin & Marshall finished at 307 while Rutgers-Camden (309) and Stevenson (310) rounded out the top five.
Freshman Anthony Wagner was the third Spartan in the 70s. He carded a 79. He tied for 22nd in the 97-player field.
Josh Strausbaugh was the fourth Spartan scorer with an 83 to finish tied for 47th.
York sophomore Ryan Wolbach had the shot of the day. He eagled the par-4 14th when he holed his second shot from 165 yards out.
The Spartans' team score of 302 was their best score of the year, besting the 303 they shot at the season-opening Penn State Harrisburg Invitational at Dauphin Highlands. Three of York's rounds this fall have been under 310.
