York High graduate Aignee Freeland has been named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference West Division Women's Basketball Freshman of the Week -- again.
It's the fourth time she has won the award this season.
Freeland plays for Edinboro University and helped her team to two PSAC wins last week. Against Lock Haven, the 6-foot, 3-inch forward finished with 15 points and 18 rebounds. That was the most rebounds by an Edinboro player since Rachel Johnson grabbed 19 against West Chester in 2007. Against California, Freeland added 10 points, nine rebounds, four blocks and two steals.
For the week, Freeland averaged 12.5 points, 13.5 rebounds and three blocks per game.
Freeland is now tied for the team lead in rebounds at 8.2 per game on the year, while she adds 7.8 points and 1.4 blocks per game. Her 8.2 rebounds per contest are good for a tie for eighth in the PSAC and rank second-highest among all freshmen. She has appeared in all 21 Edinboro contests, with 16 consecutive starts, and averages 27.2 minutes per game, third-most on the team.
Edinboro is 17-4 overall and 14-3 in PSAC West.
