York Catholic stormed back to shock visiting Delone Catholic on Tuesday night in boys' basketball action, 53-49.
The Fighting Irish trailed 30-19 at halftime and 41-33 after three quarters, but used a 20-8 fourth-quarter surge to grab the victory.
Delone, the York-Adams Division IV champion, fell to 13-8 overall and 11-3 in the division. York Catholic improved to 10-12 and 9-6.
The game was decided at the foul line. York Catholic was 11-for-17 (64.7 percent), while Delone was 9-for-21 (42.9 percent).
James Daugherty (12), Erich Hartman (11) and Joseph Rost (10) led a balanced York Catholic attack. Brett Smith paced Delone with 18 points, while Devon Moore had 14.
Delone will next face Dallastown in a league tournament quarterfinal at 8 p.m. Saturday at Spring Grove.
OTHER BOYS' BASKETBALL
SOUTH WESTERN 58, DALLASTOWN 56, OT: At Hanover, South Western won in overtime behind a combined 41 points from Mike Duffy (21) and Parker Bean (20). Duffy had four 3-pointers. Mitch Small led the Wildcats with 17 points, while the Suttons combined for 22 (12 by Ethan and 10 by Jonny). South Western finished the regular season at 15-6 overall and 12-3 in York-Adams Division I. Dallastown finished at 14-8 and 9-6. Both teams qualified for the York-Adams League playoffs on Saturday. Dallastown faces Division IV champion Delone Catholic at 8 p.m. at Spring Grove. South Western battles Division III co-champion Eastern York at Spring Grove at 6:30 p.m.
YORK HIGH 83, RED LION 43: At York High, the Bearcats finished off a perfect York-Adams Division I season at 15-0. The Bearcats (20-2 overall) were led by Tavon Parker's 21 points. He got double-digit support from Jahaire Wilson (13), Ohsajid Beard (11) and Dai-Quest Casiano (10). Red Lion led 17-16 after one period, but York finished the game on a 67-26 run. Mike Fox had 18 points to lead Red Lion, while Austin Huson added 10. Red Lion dropped to 12-9 overall and 7-8 in the division. York High will now face Bermudian Springs in a first-round York-Adams League playoff game at 8 p.m. Saturday at Red Lion.
NORTHEASTERN 48, NEW OXFORD 40: At Manchester, the Bobcats led just 16-15 at halftime, but used a 33-24 second-half edge to secure the win. Khalid Nwandu led Northeastern with 17 points, while Derrick Hoffman added 13. The Bobcats, the York-Adams Division II champions, will now face York Suburban in a league tournament quarterfinal at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Red Lion.
DOVER 58, KENNARD- DALE 36: At Dover, Josh McMahon (15), Ryan Beck (13) and Zach Workman (11) each hit double digits to lead the Eagles, who took control early by outscoring K-D in the first quarter, 18-7. Ryan Trott led the Rams with 11 points.
YORK TECH 66, BIG LERVILLE 36: At Spry, the Spartans rolled, outscoring the Canners in every quarter. Tech had four players in double figures: Ryan Ford (14), Claudio Patrice (10), Londell McGhee (10) and Ron Henderson (10). Zack Sheets led Biglerville with 14 points.
CENTRAL YORK 79, SPRING GROVE 51: At Central, Nick Salter led the Panthers with 13 points. Darian Hampton knocked in 12 points for Central, while Royce Clemens scored 10. For the Rockets, Nick Spangler scored 15 points.
HERSHEY CHRISTIAN 63, CHRISTIAN SCHOOL OF YORK 50: At York, Chad Shuffield led the Crusaders with 15 points on five 3-pointers. Teammate O.B. Gesese scored 11 points.
