Spring Grove's Miranda Markle will never forget the final 30 seconds of Wednesday night's game against Penn Manor.

After not scoring in the first 31 minutes and 30 seconds of the non-league game, Markle nailed a 3-point shot and two foul shots in the closing seconds to lift the Rockets over the Comets, 60-54.

Markle's 3-pointer put her team ahead, 56-54. She then stole the ball on Penn Manor's next possession and was fouled. The junior guard converted both foul shots to expand the lead to four points.

Ashley Madison's layup with two seconds remaining closed the scoring.

"It was good for Miranda to hit that shot," Spring Grove head coach Gerry Rohrbaugh said. "She needed some confidence."

Spring Grove won 24 hours after a 42-35 loss to West York.

"Hopefully, it (the victory) will boost our players' confidence after a disheartening loss to West York," Rohrbaugh said.

The Rockets' Morgan Arden, who had 20 points in the West York game, continued her torrid scoring with a game-high 23 points. Madison added 12 points for the winners.

Spring Grove was on target at the foul line, connecting on 15-of-20 attempts.

The Rockets trailed by three points at halftime, but they outscored the Lancaster County team, 32-23, in the second half.

Spring Grove evened its record at 2-2.

Kelly Shertzer and Mikala Fry combined for 32 points for Penn Manor.
