The defending champions are back to bid for another title in the York-Adams Girls' Tennis Singles Tournament.

Katie Wagner of Susquehannock, the 2011 Class AAA champion, and Anna Spoden of York Catholic, the 2011 AA champion, are the No. 1 seeds, in their respective classes, for the tournament, which begins on Friday at Dallastown (Class AAA) and South Western (Class AA).

Spoden, a senior, will try for her third singles championship. She won the crown as a freshman, finished second to her sister, Ava, as a sophomore and came out on top last year.

Wagner bested 2010 champion, Emily Kuhn of Central York, in last year's final. Kuhn is seeded second in this year's event.

Two rounds of singles will be played on Friday. The quarterfinals and semifinals are set for Saturday at South Western, with the finals scheduled for Monday, also at South Western. The starting times are 1:30 p.m. Friday, 2 p.m. Saturday and 4 p.m. Monday.

The doubles tournament will begin on Tuesday at Dallastown (Class AAA) and South Western (Class AA). The semifinals, finals and consolations will be held at South Western on Wednesday. The starting times are 2:30 p.m. on both days.
